Actually we’re only playing one game right now: World of Warcraft. For those who don’t know it’s the new ultra-hyped (since its first announcement) MMORPG by Blizzard. I’ve been waiting for this game ever since they announced it some time between Diablo II and Warcraft III. The first screenshots published looked promising and the first tales about the game made me want to play. After all it’s a Blizzard game and I already loved Diablo (after some initial “Nooo that’s not my type of game!” and Warcraft III).

Long time no see: StackOverflowError. Yay! It’s even an error and not an exception. How nice of java to tell me I am stupid ;-)
Guess what? Some refactoring caused a method to call itself. Shouldn’t pass different things as String parameters. No type safety! Argh no String parameters *teeth grinding* no strings no …..
Also makes for a funny stacktrace:

Via Webmasterblog and Wired News: Quit Your Job to Blog, Blog, Blog comes this:
“If you’re incredibly talented on a certain topic and people value your work than I guess it is possible. But probably not for many,” he said.
It’s about Jason Kottke, a well-known blogger, who has quit his job and is trying to make a living through his blog – without advertisements!
I hope it’ll be a success story a year from now.
It’s nice to see that I anticipated my own stupidity and send myself a nice explanation in the exception’s message, so now all I need to do is correct an error instead of debugging ;-)
when you read the list of things you can make: Thottbot World of Warcraft: Engineering
Goblin Rocket Fuel
Gnomish Shrink Ray
Snow Master 9000
Big Iron Bomb
Aquadynamic Fish Attractor
Flying Tiger Goggles
I think someone got very creative with names here . First thing I do when I get home? Make another character: Gnomish mage with a passion for engineering ;-) Now I need a name.
PS: forgot to mention the “Lovingly Crafted Boomstick”
PPS: Guess what the “Snow Master 9000″ does?
I just found this via del.icio.us and could not resist to post it here. The following link leads to a Microsoft site, I am not responsible for it’s content and …. oh just click on it: A parent’s primer to computer slang
While it’s important to respect your children’s privacy, understanding what your teenager’s online slang means and how to decipher it is important as you help guide their online experience. While it has many nicknames, information-age slang is commonly referred to as leetspeek, or leet for short. Leet (a vernacular form of “elite”) is a specific type of computer slang where a user replaces regular letters with other keyboard characters to form words phonetically creating the digital equivalent of pig Latin with a twist of hieroglyphics.
It’s really cute or naive? Filed under security, to protect your child. If this is similar to their security policies for software no wonder IE and windows are so broken.
Gizmodo : Bluetooth Rearview Mirror
Swerving should always be given your full attention, lest you miss a child and valuable points.
Oh yes let’s play Carmageddon. This is YABGYDN (yet another bluetooth gizmo you don’t need!). But if you get one your car will be bluetooth enabled and you can put a logo sticker on it! But does your car already have a GPS? Not, then maybe you should consider buying a new camera:
In layman’s terms: It takes pics, it sends pics, it tells you what your longitude and latitude were when you took the pics.
Camera includes GPS? Oh we needed that. So who is on drugs? Gizmodo or the Gizmo industry? Come on: who needs a camera with a GPS included? Well wo besides Micha anyway :-)
